While the city centre is walkable, you absolutely need a car to reach the best beaches (Costa Smeralda, Porto Istana) which are 15-20 minutes away. The challenge in Olbia is parking. We highly recommend booking an apartment with guaranteed parking to avoid ZTL fines and stress.
We recommend the Old Town (Centro Storico). The beaches near Olbia are beautiful but quiet at night. Staying in the Old Town gives you access to hundreds of restaurants, the night market, and the promenade after a day at the sea. It is the best balance of logistics and lifestyle.
