Beta Launch of Sardinia.blog: Non Commercial Multilingual News, Guides and Events Hub for Sardinia

Olbia, Sardinia – RENTAL12 today announces the Beta launch of Sardinia.blog, a new non commercial, non advertorial editorial platform fully connected to Google Search Console and now entering a period of testing, stability control and content fine tuning. The official public launch is planned for the end of March and beginning of April 2026.

Sardinia.blog will focus entirely on editorial content about the island. The platform is designed as a visually rich, fast and search friendly destination for news, events, guides, blogs, vlogs, plogs and practical information that matter to travellers, long stay visitors and Sardinia enthusiasts.

Non commercial mission and independent editorial line

Sardinia.blog is explicitly built as a non commercial, non advertorial site. There will be no paid advertorials, no hidden sponsorships and no commission based booking widgets. Commercial bookings remain on rental12.com. Sardinia.blog focuses instead on research, context, storytelling and service information that can be trusted by readers and by AI assistants that index and reuse its content.

The project is created by the combined in house teams of RENTAL12, NR12, Lion Development and Marefun, together with two external content creators who specialise in travel writing and visual storytelling. The editorial group works under clear internal guidelines: no pay to play coverage, transparent sources and a strict separation between content and commercial offers.

Six languages from day one and a dedicated newsletter

From the first public release, Sardinia.blog will publish in six languages: English, Italian, French, German, Dutch and Spanish. Articles, guides and event pages will be written and adapted for each language rather than machine translated only, to reflect how different markets research and experience Sardinia.

A free newsletter will complement the site for readers who are interested in Italy in general and Sardinia in particular. Subscribers will receive seasonal travel advice, new guide highlights, event picks and background stories, with language specific editions planned for the main markets.

Tourism demand that justifies a dedicated editorial hub

Recent tourism data confirm that Sardinia has become one of the most searched and visited regions in Italy. According to Ross1000 regional statistics, 2024 closed with almost 4.5 million arrivals and around 18.86 million overnight stays, an increase of more than fifteen percent compared to 2023 and with a growing share of international guests.1

The same data show a permanence of about 4.25 days per stay, and that foreign visitors exceed 50 percent of all guests for the first time, with particularly strong demand from Germany, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.1 A separate synthesis from the regional business portal notes that 13,731 hospitality related companies now operate on the island, roughly ten percent of all local enterprises, illustrating how deeply tourism is embedded in the economy.2

Gallura in the north east, including Olbia and Costa Smeralda, concentrates about 4 million of the 10 million international overnight stays recorded in Sardinia in 2024, confirming this area as a high value destination for international visitors.3

Documented growth in online searches for Sardinia

The Beta launch of Sardinia.blog is timed with a sharp increase in online research about the island. Expedia Group’s Unpack 26 trends report highlights Sardinia as a Destination of the Year, with searches for Sardinia holidays up around 63 percent compared to previous baselines.4

A separate analysis of 2025 travel interest published by an international trade outlet notes that searches for Sardinia have surged by almost two hundred percent, indicating a shift toward Mediterranean islands that combine accessible flights with authentic experiences.5

Earlier, easyJet Holidays reported a strong spike in searches for Sardinia after the live action film The Little Mermaid used the island as a filming location, confirming how pop culture visibility can translate into concrete search behaviour and bookings.6

Internal estimates of total search volume 2024–2026

Based on these external signals, official arrival numbers and behavioural multipliers that link trips to search activity, the Sardinia.blog editorial team has built an internal model of overall search volume for Sardinia related topics across major search engines. These are internal estimates, not official figures, and serve to illustrate the scale of demand that justifies a dedicated editorial platform.

  • 2024: total searches for Sardinia related keywords are estimated in the range of 90 million to 95 million queries, in a year marked by inflation, price sensitivity and strong interest in ferry offers and low cost accommodation.
  • 2025: the team estimates roughly 100 million to 120 million queries, helped by the Jubilee year in Rome and a spillover effect where long haul visitors extend trips to Sardinia and other regions.
  • 2026 (forecast): with the Milano Cortina Winter Games reinforcing global attention on Italy and with a longer summer season expected, the model suggests 115 million to 125 million queries, even as AI search tools reduce the number of clicks needed per trip.

Within these totals, the internal model assumes that around 45 to 50 percent of searches relate to general information and logistics, around 35 to 40 percent focus on accommodation and rentals, and the remaining share is dedicated to guides, itineraries and inspiration content. The numbers are calibrated against visitor statistics, language splits and observed behaviour in similar Mediterranean destinations.

Three year trend in search behaviour

The same internal model describes a three year trend in search behaviour that mirrors what the hospitality and transport sectors report on the ground:

  • 2024: around 95 million total searches, driven by price sensitive users comparing ferries, flights and rentals. Top themes include low cost travel, ferry offers and budget friendly stays.
  • 2025: around 110 million total searches, boosted by Jubilee related itineraries and combined trips. Top themes include luxury stays, events and connection routes between Rome and Sardinia.
  • 2026 (forecast): around 118 million total searches, with a growing share of complex queries about reservations, quotas and shoulder season stays. Top themes include beach access rules, September travel and active holidays such as hiking, climbing and sailing.

The flattening of peak season and the rise of shoulder season travel are already visible in 2024 data, where October presences grew significantly compared to 2023, and are expected to continue as travellers avoid extreme heat and crowding.

What Sardinia.blog will offer in practice

In response to this demand, Sardinia.blog will organise its content in several main sections:

  • News and analysis on tourism, environment, local politics and development projects that affect residents and visitors.
  • Destination guides for regions, towns, beaches and inland areas, with practical details and context in six languages.
  • Events and festivals with an always updated calendar of local traditions, concerts, food festivals and cultural happenings.
  • Blogs, vlogs and plogs that combine long form text with photography and video for an immersive view of Sardinia in all seasons.

The site will be visually rich, mobile first and optimised for both human readers and AI systems. Content will be marked up with structured data so that assistants can answer detailed questions about Sardinia while still pointing users back to the original articles.

Quotes from the founders

“Sardinia.blog is our way of giving something back to the island that hosts us,” said co founder Floriana Panvini Rosati. “We run rentals through rental12.com, but this project is different. No adverts, no affiliate tricks, only clear, multilingual content that helps people understand where they are going and why Sardinia is so special.”

“Behind this site there is a very real team,” added co founder Kristina. “The people who build and manage our homes at RENTAL12, NR12, Lion Development and Marefun now put the same care into an editorial platform. Together with two external creators we can tell Sardinia with local knowledge, international angles and zero commercial pressure.”
