Parking in Olbia is the one thing that spoils otherwise perfect holidays. The old town is small and walkable, which is exactly why cars are kept out of it: four ZTL zones, six automatic camera gates, parking banned inside at any hour, and a Comune that issues no permits to visitors. Hosts cannot register a guest’s plate either. The blue-line street spaces around the centre are first come, first served, and in July and August they are gone by the time the passeggiata starts.

Arrival, exit and the Olbia ZTL
Quick answer: Approach Via Sassari from outside the ZTL, never through Corso Umberto. The ZTL has six camera gates: two are active 24/7, the other four daily from 17:00 to 24:00, and parking inside is banned at all times. Fines are €83 to €332 (about €58.10 if paid within five days) plus the rental company’s handling fee.
Arrival
- Approach via Via Mameli or Via San Simplicio, cross Corso Umberto at the junction and turn right into Via Sassari. ZTL gate 4 (Corso Umberto I × Via Sassari, active daily 17:00 to 24:00) stands at this junction: turn into Via Sassari and do not continue along Corso Umberto or into Via Garibaldi, both inside the ZTL.
- Find the keypad to the left of the gate and enter the code sent with your booking.
- Park only in the bay assigned to you and take your valuables with you.
Exit
- Vehicle gate: left switch. Pedestrian gate: right switch.
- Standard exit: turn right into Via La Marmora (outside the ZTL). Do not follow a GPS route through Corso Umberto.
