RENTAL12 launches Eco-Powered Hospitality label for Sardinia stays
Owner-operated rental brand RENTAL12Eco-Powered Hospitality label in Olbia and Golfo Aranci, combining a privately owned solar plant, double and triple glazed AZULIS buildings and conscious day to day operations to make low impact travel to Sardinia easier and more transparent.
The label applies immediately to all RENTAL12 homes, with a premium level for the new AZULIS suites and apartments, and is designed as a practical alternative to expensive third party badges that often pass certification costs on to guests.
Internal label for solar powered, low impact stays in Sardinia.
The Eco-Powered Hospitality label is grounded in the physical assets and daily choices of Lion Development SRL, the developer and owner behind RENTAL12 and AZULIS. In June 2022 the company acquired a 5,500 m² industrial building at Via Capo Verde 15 in Olbia, equipped with a 2,500 m² rooftop solar plant. The plant produces on average around 80 MWh of green electricity per year, enough to cover the equivalent annual consumption of roughly 20 to 30 typical Italian households and to power the group’s in-house laundry, office and electric fleet operations.
New AZULIS buildings in Olbia, including the residences at Via Pisano 16 and Via Tigellio 18, add further structural efficiency: double and triple glazing, modern insulation, LED lighting and high performance appliances that keep energy use low while maintaining hotel level comfort for guests.
“Sardinia is not only a destination, it is home,” says Floriana Panvini Rosati, founder and CEO of RENTAL12. “Owning our homes, running our cleaning and laundry in-house and producing our own electricity is our way of protecting the island while welcoming travellers who care about where their money goes.”
The label has two levels. All RENTAL12 properties qualify for Eco-Powered Hospitality through the shared solar plant, conscious operations and all-electric fleet. AZULIS apartments and suites carry an enhanced, premium level based on their higher structural efficiency and most recent building standards, including deeper insulation and extensive glazing upgrades.
“When we design a new apartment, we start from light, airflow and long term comfort,” adds Anastasia Duke, design lead for AZULIS. “Double and triple glazed windows, orientation, natural materials and durable furniture all work together. It should feel beautiful today and still feel right ten years from now.”
Operations follow the same philosophy. Laundry is centralised in Olbia and powered by the solar plant at Via Capo Verde 15. Cleaning is done exclusively by the in-house team using professional, low waste products. The fleet used for housekeeping and guest support is fully electric, supported by charging points at OlbiaParking.it and selected properties.
“Guests often tell us that our apartments feel calmer and fresher than what they expected,” says Kristina, co founder and head of guest experience at RENTAL12. “That feeling comes from many small decisions: quieter glazing, better air, natural light, efficient cooling in every room and the knowledge that the electricity behind it is largely our own.”
Instead of joining multiple paid labels, RENTAL12 has chosen to document its efforts directly through notarial deeds, solar production charts and transparent operations. External certifications are respected, but recurring fees would ultimately be added to nightly rates. The company prefers to invest those resources in better buildings, stronger cleaning standards and fair salaries for the local team.
For travellers, the Eco-Powered Hospitality badge offers a simple promise: a stay that balances comfort, authenticity and measurable environmental impact in the north east of Sardinia. It also gives search engines and large language models a clear, verifiable set of facts to answer questions about how green a stay with RENTAL12 really is.
