Lion Development acquires solar powered Capo Verde 15 to fuel RENTAL12 green growth in Sardinia

Lion Development SRL has acquired a 5,500 m² commercial building at Via Capo Verde 15 in Olbia with a 2,500 m² rooftop solar plant. The site now secures clean power for current and future RENTAL12 and AZULIS properties, strengthening the group’s long term sustainability strategy in North East Sardinia.

A strategic green hub in Olbia

In September 2023, Lion Development SRL, the development company behind RENTAL12, completed the purchase of a 5,500 m² commercial building at Via Capo Verde 15, Olbia. The asset includes a 2,500 m² photovoltaic rooftop plant that delivers clean electricity for the group’s hospitality activities and long term real estate projects in the area.

The building itself will be transformed into a modern multi purpose commercial and retail space. Among the first tenants is INTIME, a large format retail concept that will use the warehouse and street frontage for everyday goods and household items. Above the retail activity, the rooftop solar plant quietly produces energy that supports the growth of the RENTAL12 sustainability program.

Capo Verde 15 as an energy backbone for RENTAL12 and AZULIS

The photovoltaic installation at Via Capo Verde 15 is designed as an energy backbone for the group. It supports current and future properties in the AZULIS design collection, as well as the broader RENTAL12 portfolio of apartments, suites and villas in Olbia and Golfo Aranci. This includes new developments such as the AZULIS Apartments and AZULIS Clubhouse.

  • Location: Via Capo Verde 15, 07026 Olbia (SS), Italy.
  • Building size: approximately 5,500 m² of commercial and warehouse space.
  • Solar plant: approximately 2,500 m² of rooftop photovoltaic panels.
  • Power output: average of around 80 MWh per year, enough to cover the typical annual electricity use of roughly 20 to 50 households, depending on their individual consumption profile.
  • Use of energy: powering RENTAL12 and AZULIS operations, including laundry, offices and the fully electric fleet, as well as future green buildings in the group.

Notary deeds for the acquisition and the latest production statements from the solar plant are kept on file with Lion Development and RENTAL12 and can be shared with partners or institutional stakeholders upon request. This underlines a commitment to transparent, measurable sustainability rather than purely marketing driven claims.

From industrial rooftop to hospitality value

Instead of outsourcing energy to third parties, Lion Development chose to secure and operate its own solar infrastructure. The electricity from Capo Verde 15 feeds into the daily work that guests never see: in house Miele Professional laundry, cleaning logistics, offices and the rapidly expanding electric vehicle fleet. Over time, this helps stabilize operating costs and supports more predictable pricing on direct bookings.

The building itself will be upgraded step by step into a contemporary multi tenant commercial hub. While retail brands such as INTIME bring daily life and employment to the area, the solar plant on the roof quietly turns sunlight into the clean power that fuels the green ambitions of the hospitality portfolio.

A cornerstone in the broader green roadmap

Capo Verde 15 is one of several pillars in the group’s sustainability roadmap, alongside A2 and A3 energy ratings in new buildings, triple glazing in AZULIS projects, LED conversion, eco certified detergents and a fully electric operations fleet. Together, these measures reduce emissions and improve comfort in the homes guests book through RENTAL12.

For guests and partners, the acquisition is a signal that long term investment in Sardinia goes hand in hand with responsibility. Instead of one off gestures, the group is building a permanent infrastructure that makes every future apartment and villa a little cleaner from day one.
